About Us

Wrecking Crew Studios is an independently owned business built on a lifelong passion for music and a commitment to doing things right.

Founded by Dave Curtis—who spent nearly 40 years in the aerospace industry, including as CEO of a major Canadian aerospace company—our approach to vinyl production is rooted in precision manufacturing and uncompromising quality control.

Dave’s connection to music began early, inspired by his father’s career in AM radio at Victoria’s CJVI and CFAX stations, and later through his own decades-long run as a rock ’n’ roll drummer. He also served on the board of Vista Radio, overseeing 72 small-market FM stations across Western Canada and the Northwest Territories.

After retiring from aerospace, Dave completed SAIT’s Digital Audio program, gaining deeper expertise in audio production, live sound design, and digital recording systems. This fueled a two-year immersion into the vinyl industry—attending Making Vinyl conferences in Nashville and Haarlem, touring more than a dozen pressing plants, and consulting with top experts.

While Dave founded Wrecking Crew Studios, the team extends far beyond one person. We work closely with respected recording engineers and industry veterans who share our dedication to sound quality, craftsmanship, and innovation. Together, we bring both technical precision and musical artistry to every project.

Originally built in 2016 as a private event and recording space near Victoria International Airport, Wrecking Crew Studios was formally incorporated in 2024 and expanded into vinyl record pressing. In January 2025, we took delivery of a custom-built NewBilt Vinyl Pressing System from Germany—marking the start of our next chapter.

This is the band Seven Straws In—with Lloyd on vocals and harmonica, Kevin on bass, two Daves on electric guitar, Dave C on drums, and Greg as a guest keyboardist and vocalist. They have all played together for more than two decades. With three Daves in the lineup, the band could have been called Dave’s Band.
